Mr. Johnson has Master’s Degrees in Urban & Regional Planning and Business Administration as well as an Undergraduate Degree in Geography. He has operated the GIS Workshop, a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) consulting business, in Encinitas, CA since 1999. Services include cartography, custom mapping, demographic and spatial data collection, processing, management and analysis. He is specialized in transportation, transit, para-transit and health care planning. He is also an Associate Director at the National Geospatial Technology Center (Geotech Center) and an adjunct GIS instructor at the University of California, Riverside. Mr. Johnson has helped to establish two Community College GIS Certificate programs and is assisting the U.S. Department of Labor in defining workforce competencies for geospatial occupations. Prior to this, he was a land use and subdivision planner, policy manager, real estate economist and geography and GIS instructor.
